Diablo 3 — How to Play
What it is
Diablo III (2012) and its Reaper of Souls expansion carry the most responsive combat in the series. After a rough launch it became a fast, generous loot game built around Nephalem Rifts, Greater Rifts and roughly three-month Seasons that hand out full class sets for free.
Getting the game
- On PC, buy it from the Battle.net shop — the base game with Reaper of Souls. The Rise of the Necromancer pack is sold separately.
- On console the Eternal Collection bundles everything for PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
- Note that on PC the game is always-online, even in solo play.
Choosing a class
- Barbarian — melee Fury.
- Crusader — shielded holy knight (Reaper of Souls).
- Demon Hunter — ranged crossbows and traps.
- Monk — martial-arts striker.
- Necromancer — corpses and minions (Rise of the Necromancer pack).
- Witch Doctor — pets and poison.
- Wizard — arcane glass cannon.
Starting out
- Install through Battle.net or your console store and create a character.
- Play the campaign once for the story, then switch to Adventure Mode for Bounties and Rifts.
- For the live game, join the current Season — a fresh character, a free set from the Season Journey, and the fastest route to the endgame.
- Chase Paragon levels, augment your gear, and push Greater Rifts as far as your build allows.
