Diablo 2 Resurrected — How to Play
What it is
Diablo II: Resurrected is the 2021 remaster of Diablo II and Lord of Destruction — 4K visuals drawn over the original game logic, so the drop rates and breakpoints the community mapped for decades still hold. The 2026 Reign of the Warlock expansion added the eighth class, and the game reached Steam the same year.
Getting the game
- Buy it from the Battle.net shop or on Steam (from February 2026), or on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
- The base purchase is Resurrected itself; Reign of the Warlock is a separate expansion that adds the Warlock class and new endgame content.
- One Battle.net account carries your progress across platforms.
Choosing a class
Eight classes — the seven of Lord of Destruction plus the Warlock:
- Amazon, Barbarian, Necromancer, Paladin, Sorceress, Assassin and Druid.
- Warlock — a Sorceress-Necromancer hybrid added by Reign of the Warlock, able to levitate a two-handed weapon while still carrying an off-hand.
Starting out
- Install through Battle.net, Steam or your console store, then create a Classic or Expansion character — Expansion is the full game and where the players are.
- Join a ladder season for a fresh start and seasonal rewards, or play non-ladder and offline.
- Toggle the legacy graphics at any moment to see the original 2000 sprites underneath.
- Progress Normal → Nightmare → Hell, and build a loot filter once you know what you are hunting.
